Writing
Clear and concise writing helps audiences better understand your key messages. And creative storytelling helps do so in a fun, engaging way.

I've written blog posts, reports, fact sheets, tv scripts, and more. Check out some writing projects I've worked on.
I Want to be Malaria Free!
"No child should die of a mosquito bite. Yet, children under the age of 5 and living in sub-Saharan Africa are at increased risk of dying from malaria, a deadly disease which is transmitted by mosquitoes."
While on the communications team at the U.S. President's Malaria Initiative, I wrote this Medium blog post to celebrate ten years of the global community supporting a life-saving seasonal antimalarial treatment that has protected millions of children from malaria.
During the writing, I consulted with my team, technical experts, and professional editors to gather information, tailor the writing to a U.S. audience, and write in the voice of the United States Agency for International Development. I also collected and organized photos from our archive to include in the post.

what is edutainment?
Edutainment, also known as "entertainment education", incorporates learning into entertainment media. It's especially powerful to help communicate health messages. Even mainstream television shows such as Hulu's award-winning East Los High have successfully changed health knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors with this powerful tool.
Lotus is a mini-series that follows Rani and Raj as they navigate their romance and careers. I wrote the script for Episode 1 of Lotus and a summary of episodes 2-5 for submission to entertainment companies who can produce the show. The series uses edutainment to shed light on the struggles of South Asian American adults who experienced domestic violence as children and explore how they can build resilience to protect from the effects of trauma.
Parents vs. Childhood Trauma
I created a health brochure to encourage parents of newborns to develop positive childhood experiences with with their baby to protect from the negative effects of childhood trauma. To create the brochure, I used health literacy and plain language best practices.
what is health literacy?
Health literacy explores how people can best obtain, process, and understand basic health information and services so they can make the best decisions for themselves. It's important to use simple, clear, and culturally specific visuals and writing and organize them in a way that is easily accessible for the intended audience.
what is plain language?
Plain language is a facet of health literacy that focuses on writing. Writing with plain language, and without complex jargon, can allow the reader to understand your message quickly and completely.
I also use plain language to write grants, create reports, and generate social media posts. Check out my social media on the Graphic Design page.
